Warning: Acronyms galore. SXSW, CMS and modX!

In March’s Web Meetup, we were lucky to get an overview of SXSW, CMS’s and modX… but, I can just hear some of you saying “WTF? SXSW? CMS? MODX? ummm…. come again?”

SO!

SXSW: is a set of interactive, film, and music festivals and conferences that take place every spring in Austin, Texas, United States.

CMS: is the acronym for Content Management System. Basically, you can manage the HTML content of your website in this application.

modX: is a Content Management System.

To kick off the presentations, Nathan (@nathanlon) gave us an interesting overview as to what happened at SXSW. The presentation is below:

Next up was Joe Lee (@thiswayup). He gave a great presentation on CMS’s and introduced us to modX. I was very interested in this, as it’s a CMS thats easy for us front-end designers to use.
